Warren Wand, RB, Arkansas State #6

5051, 191, 4.38

Notes: From Edmond, OK. Played in all 13 games as a true freshman, rushing 118 times for 709 yards (6.0 avg.) and 5 TDs, while catching 18 passes for 135 yards in 2015. Rushed 200-879-7 (4.4 avg.) and caught 24-279-3 in 2016. Rushed 138-715-6 (5.2 avg.) and caught 17-145-1 in 2017; missed two games due to injury.

Positives: Very quick, shifty and elusive with breakaway speed. Sharp cutting ability and explosive acceleration. Very good vision, balance and burst. Disappears behind bigger players and can be hard for defenders to locate coming through the line. Doesn’t waste a lot of movement dancing, usually takes the ball directly upfield. Despite diminutive stature, he is not easily knocked off his feet. Very good hands. Effective downfield receiver. Plays with toughness and not afraid to initiate contact.

Negatives: Very short. Lacks a lot of power or pure tackle-breaking strength. Is not a very big target for his quarterback.

Summary: Too small but too productive to overlook. Worth a look as a role player in an offense. Similar talent to Tarik Cohen (4th-round pick by Bears in 2017), but about one inch shorter. A lot of fun to watch.
