Mike Warren, RB, Iowa State #2

5116, 215, 4.47

Notes: From Lawton, OK. Redshirted in 2014. Perhaps the top running back in the nation as a redshirt freshman as he gained 1,339 yards on 227 carries (5.9 avg.) and 5 touchdowns and caught 14 passes for 70 yards, in 2015. Slowed by injuries, he started 8 of 11 games played, rushed 135-559-3 (4.2 avg.) and caught 12-98, in 2016. Gave way to David Montgomery for a lot of the playing time at running back in 2017; played in 9 games, rushed 34-105-1 and caught 1-0. Seemed to end up in the doghouse with coach Matt Campbell. Took some reps in practice at safety in practices before the 2018 season, but was buried on the depth chart at running back most of the season.

Positives: Fluid, natural runner with good speed, balance, vision and instincts. Good burst and acceleration. Can bounce outside and get to the edge. Can go the distance if there is a seam. Effective goal-line runner. Flashes power. Can return kickoffs.

Negatives: Playing time and production has regressed since sensational freshman campaign. Has had some injury issues.

Summary: Enigma as a prospect due to decreased playing time.
