Darwin Thompson, RB, Utah State #5

5076, 200, 4.52

Notes: From Tulsa, OK. His uncle, David Thompson, was a running back at Oklahoma State and with the St. Louis Rams from 1997-99. Spent first two seasons at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, where he rushed for 2,420 yards and 17 touchdowns on 336 carries (7.2 avg.), finishing as the second-leading rusher in school history. In 13 games at Utah State, he rushed 153-1,044-14 (6.8 avg.) and caught 23-351-2 (15.3 avg.) in 2018.

Positives: Quick, strong and explosive with surprising power for size, particularly lower-body strength and leg drive. Excellent balance and determination. Effective pass receiver out of the backfield and really shines in the open field. Natural vision and instincts.

Negatives: Short with modest bulk. Does not have the size you want in your feature back. Lacks elite breakaway speed.

Summary: Sort of a Jerick McKinnon (49ers) or Austin Ekeler (Chargers)-type with a similar skill-set and overall style.
