Taylor Cornelius, QB, Oklahoma State #14

6060, 232, 4.96

Notes: Born in Amarillo, TX, grew up in Bushland, TX (estimated population of 130 people). His cousin, Josh Davis, was a 1996 Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer. Another cousin, Brandon Green, played defensive end with the Jaguars, Rams and Seahawk in the NFL. Lightly recruited out of high originally walked-on at Oklahoma State. Redshirted in 2014. Backup in 2015, played sparingly in 3 games, completed 2-of-5 passes for 8 yards and rushed 2-21. Also played basketball in high school. Backup behind Mason Rudolph in 2016-17. Saw mop-up duty in a couple games in 2016. Played late in 2 game, completing 7-of-9 passes for 64 yards in 2017. Completed his marketing degree in three years and is working on his third minor.

Positives: Excellent height and frame. Ideal stature in the pocket. Good athlete. Good character and intelligence. Humble and mature. Strong arm and can make all the throws. Nice touch. Sees the field well and works through his progressions nicely. Adept finding secondary receivers. Shows pocket awareness and above-average movement skills. Avoids pressure. Not easy to bring down. Isn’t afraid to run. Will play within the offense and not force the ball.

Negatives: Needs to improve accuracy, ball placement and overall consistency as a passer. Isn’t a naturally vocal, take-charge leader. Too conservative at times. Has not gotten a lot of game action yet.

Summary: Flashes some Ben Roethlisberger at times, some Dan McGwire at times. Intriguing late-bloomer prospect.
