Jarrett Stidham, QB, Auburn #8
6023, 218, 4.81
Notes: From Stephenville, TX. Originally committed to Texas tech, but later chose Baylor, where he completed 75-of-109 (68.8%) passes for 1,265 yards, 12 TD, 2 INT in 2015; but a chipped bone in his ankle sidelined him for the team’s bowl game. In the wake of the coaching change at Baylor, he opted to transfer. After spending one semester at McLennan Community College in Waco, TX, where he did not play football, he transferred to Auburn. SEC newcomer of the year in 2017; completed 246-of-370 (66.5%) for 3,158 yards, 18 TD, 6 INT and added 103-153-4 rushing. Got engaged to his longtime girlfriend in July 2018. Completed 224-of-369 (60.7%) passes for 2,794 yards, 18 TD, 5 INT in 2018.
Positives: Natural leader. Has a presence. Student of the game. Adequate size for the position. Solid arm strength and throws a crisp pass. Does a nice job getting the ball downfield, especially off play action. Shows good accuracy on the full range of throws. Effective throwing on the move. Nice touch, drops the ball over defenders nicely. Athletic and an asset with his feet, able to run for positive yardage and extend the drive. Shows the ability to go through his progressions and make good decisions.
Negatives: Don’t see a lot of full-field reads, so needs development against pro defenses. Impatient in the pocket, taking off too early at times, potentially missing opportunities downfield and taking unnecessary hits.
Summary: Will need some time to adapt from a spread-type attack to the pro game, and needs to improve consistency and decision-making. But he has the tools to make it in the NFL.
