Brett Rypien, QB, Boise State #4
6015, 210, 4.91
Notes: From Spokane, WA. Nephew of former NFL QB Mark Rypien. Set to redshirt as freshman in 2015, but became the guy due to injury by Ryan Finley; appeared in 11 games and started 10, completing 273-of-430 (63.5%) passing for 3,353 yards, 20 TD, 8 INT and rushed for one touchdown. Completed 244-of-394 (61.9%) for 3,646 yards, 24 TD, 8 INT and rushed for 2 TDs in 2016. Completed 218-of-348 (62.6%) for 2,877 yards, 16 TD, 6 INT in 2017. Completed 301-of-447 (67.3%) for 3,705 yards, 30 TD, 7 INT in 2018.
Positives: Respected team leader. Adequate size and arm strength. Good passing skills. Nice timing, touch and accuracy. Makes some outstanding throws. Can get the ball downfield. Sound mechanics. Able to avoid the rush and move within the pocket.
Negatives: Lacks ideal size and truly outstanding arm talent.
Summary: Not an elite talent, but was consistent and highly productive for four seasons. Should make it as a backup, and could emerge if he gets a chance.
