Kyle Shurmur, QB, Vanderbilt #14

6040, 230, 4.91

Notes: From Philadelphia, PA. Son of Giants head coach Pat Shurmur. Became Vandy’s starting quarterback the final 5 games of his freshman season. Completed 44-of-103 passes (42.7%) for 503 yards, 5 TD and 3 INT in 2015. Completed 204-of-375 (54.4%) for 2,409 yards, 9 TD and 10 INT in 2016. Completed 220-of-380 (57.9%) for 2,823 yards, 26 TD and 10 INT in 2017. Completed 236-of-369 (64.0%) for 2,844 yards, 23 TD and 6 INT in 2018. Made academic honor roll several times and will get a degree in economics.

Positives: Nice size and stature. Fundamentally sound. Very comfortable running an offense. Can move within the pocket and avoid the rush. Hangs tough under pressure and can still deliver with accuracy. Above average arm strength. Can fit the ball into tight windows and push the ball downfield. Nice timing, anticipation and touch. Sees the field well and can find the open man. Coach's son.

Negatives: Average quickness, mobility and footspeed. Needs to improve ball security. Lacks outstanding arm strength and consistent deep-ball accuracy. Tends to be streaky.

Summary: Above-average but not outstanding prospect who brings all the intangibles of a coach’s son. Has gotten better every year and could make a team as a backup.
