Notes: From High Point, NC. Originally enrolled as a 195-pound safety out of high school. Backup free safety, with 1 start as a freshman, tallied 32 tackles, 1 INT and 3 PBU in 2014. Backup free safety, made 30 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 1 INT (returned 4 yards), 1 PBU, 1 FF and 1 FR in 2015. Redshirted in 2016 after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder and moved from safety to linebacker. Rotated with two seniors at linebacker, recorded 69 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 2 INT (for 98 yards and 1 touchdown), 2 PBU and 1 FR in 2017. Named one of four team captains for 2018.
Positives: Good athlete. Active in all phases of the game. Plays hard. Can penetrate and disrupt. Nice range, pursuit and open-field tackler. Solid pass defender.
Negatives: Isn’t always strong at the point of attack. Has not shown himself as a pass-rush threat off the edge. Still learning the position.
