Venzell Boulware, OG, Miami (Fla.) #50

6035, 308, 5.24

Notes: From Union City, GA. His mother reportedly named him after Denzell Washington, but with a V for Venzell. Went to the same high school as Eric (Chiefs) Berry and played with his brothers. Originally chose Tennessee over Ohio State coming out of high school. Redshirted in 2015. Played in 7 games as a redshirt freshman with the Vols, making three starts at left guard, in 2016. Started one game at UT in 2017, but left the team during the bye week, after five games to “pursue other options away from UT for the remainder of my collegiate career.” Graduated from Tennessee in May 2017 with bachelor’s degree in communications. Had originally been recruited (by Georgia) out of high school by head coach Mark Richt. Enrolled at Miami in the summer of 2018 as a graduate transfer. Made 6 starts at left guard and played in all 13 games for the Hurricanes in 2018. Thanked coaches at both Tennessee and Miami upon declaring for the draft.

Positives: Naturally thick, strong build. Athletic for size. Can lock on and finish. Plays with passion. Willing worker and learner. Dedicated to the game.

Negatives: Limited experience and still raw with technique and overall consistency.

Summary: May need a little time to hone his craft but appears coachable and focused to eventually make the transition to the NFL.
