Rashan Gary, DE-DT, Michigan #3

6042, 287, 4.57

Notes: From Plainfield, NJ. Played in all 13 games as a freshman, contributing 27 tackles, 5 TFL and 1 sack, in 2016. Posted 66 tackles, 12 TFL, 6 sacks and 1 FF in 2017. Needs corrective lenses and began wearing contacts while playing this summer.

Positives: Outstanding physical talent (ran 4.57 forty, 4.22 short shuttle, 6.79 3-cone drill and posted a 10’4” broad jump in spring testing in 2018). Virtually impossible to block one-on-one. Extremely athletic and explosive for his size. Quick off the ball. Has a unique blend of size, strength and speed. Tough and physical. Dominant and overpowering at times. Built like a defensive tackle, yet moves like a linebacker. Explosive off the ball. Converts speed into power. Can flatten off the edge or provide pass rush pressure inside. Stacks at the point of attack but also plays off blocks and makes tackles down the line and in pursuit. Can play either end or inside at defensive tackle.

Negatives: Still developing technique combinations as a pass rusher. Can improve as a finisher. Overruns and misses on some sack opportunities. Does not always show good blocker awareness and will get out of position at times.

Summary: A fit for any defensive scheme and can dominate the game on all three downs. Reminds me of Cameron Jordan, and could be even better. Potential top-five pick.
