Elgton Jenkins, C, Mississippi State #74

6035, 310, 5.32

Notes: First name is pronounced "EL-tuhn" (silent g). Nickname is "Big E." From Clarksdale, MS. Redshirted as a true freshman in 2014. According to published news reports, he was arrested in March 2015 due to a warrant regarding simple assault. He was booked and released on bond from Oktibbeha County jail, but MSU Police did not offer any further details, he missed no playing time and has no such off-field issues since. Played in 11 games with 3 starts (2 at left tackle, 1 at right tackle) in 2015. Played in 12 games with 5 starts (3 at left tackle, 2 at left guard) in 2016. Started all 13 games at center in 2017.

Positives: Line leader. Nice size. Proficient pass protector. Good balance, body control, footwork and technique. Anchors well against power rushers. Shows initial punch off the ball and gets movement at the point of attack as a drive blocker. Good hand placement. Gets to the second level with blocks and moves well in space. Does well in the classroom. Picks up stunts and twists. Works hard on technique and has consistently gotten better every year. Can likely play all three inside positions.

Negatives: Is not naturally massive or truly powerful. Appears slow-footed at times and somewhat inconsistent as a finisher. Is not as nasty or intense as you'd like.

Summary: Could be the first center drafted. Should be able to eventually start in the NFL Position versatility is also a plus.
