Terry Godwin, WR, Georgia #5
5111, 185, 4.49
Notes: From Hogansville, GA. Excellent baseball player in high school who was drafted by the Atlanta Braves, but bypassed a MLB signing bonus to play football. Played in 13 games with 9 starts in 2015, catching 35 passes for 379 yards and 2 touchdowns; also had 7 rushes for 47 yards and returned 4 punts for 58 yards. Appeared in 13 games, making 4 starts, catching 38-397, rushing 4-14, and returning an onside kick 43 yards for a touchdown, in 2016. Played in all 15 games and started 14, catching 38-639-6 in 2017. Sidelined at the start of fall camp by a knee injury and missed the season opener with a calf strain in 2018.
Positives: Outstanding hands. Very sure-handed and reliable. Seldom drops a catchable pass. Runs precise, consistent pass routes. Very quick into and out of his breaks. Creates separation and gets open. Excellent field awareness. Understands coverages and finds the open area. Effective on back shoulder fade routes. Has a natural ability to adjust to throws. Typically very in sync with his quarterback. Quick, darting, shifty runner after the catch. Makes defenders miss in the open field. Provides instant burst and acceleration. Fights for extra yards. Willing to block downfield. Understands the game. Solid practice habits and work ethic. Mature, well-grounded person. Leader in the wide receiver room. Can return punts.
Negatives: Doesn’t have great size. Modest build and frame. More of an intermediate-route worker than a true home run threat.
Summary: Not quite as big or physical as you’d like, but he is a very polished all-around receiver in the Stefon Diggs (Vikings) mold.
