Jazz Ferguson, WR, Northwestern State #1
6042, 223, 4.54
Notes: Full name is Jazmond Ja’Quan Ferguson. Younger brother of Louisiana Tech defensive end Jaylon Ferguson. From St. Francisville, LA. Played wide receiver, running back and defensive back in high school. Heavily recruited, he spent two seasons at Louisiana State in 2015-16, catching 2 passes for 17 yards. In mid-2016 he was suspended indefinitely for violation of team policy. Transfered to Northwestern State where he redshirted in 2017. Played in all 11 games and caught 66 passes for 1,117 yards (16.9 avg.) and 13 touchdowns, with a long of 71 yards, in 2018.
Positives: Fine athlete with outstanding size. Unique combination of length and speed. Superb catch radius. Very good hands. Adjusts to the ball extremely well. Uses his height well to high point the ball over defensive backs. Regularly comes down with contested catches. Above average run-after-the-catch ability.
Negatives: Only one year of production, and that against a lower level of competition. Still raw and unrefined. Needs improvement in nuances of running pass routes. Background merits checking.
Summary: Big, physical receiver with the tools to make the jump if teams are comfortable with his character.
