Max Scharping, OT, Northern Illinois #73

6061, 320, 5.29

Notes: From Green Bay, WI. Redshirted in 2014. Started all 14 games in 2015, mostly at right tackle, but moved to right guard for a few games due to injuries along the offensive line. Appeared in all 12 games, with 7 starts at right guard and 5 at right tackle, in 2016. Moved to left tackle and started every game in 2017, recording a pass block efficiency of 99.0 according to PFF with just 6 pressures allowed on 458 pass-block attempts. Earned his undergraduate degree with a 3.99 GPA in kinesiology and is in his second year of graduate school.

Positives: Nice size and strength. Highly intelligent. Overpowers defenders at current level of competition. Proficient pass blocker.

Negatives: Footwork in pass sets is underdeveloped at this point and needs to adapt to more elite levels of speed on pass protection.

Summary: Solid overall prospect who should be able to start at right tackle in the NFL.
