Michael Deiter, OT, Wisconsin #63
6045, 320, 5.36
Notes: From Curtice, OH. Redshirted in 2014. Started all 13 games (7 at left guard, 6 at center) in 2015. Started all 14 games (10 at center, 4 at left guard) in 2016. Started all 14 games at left tackle in 2017.
Positives: Thick frame and good overall size for the positon. Very good raw strength and can get movement at the point of attack as a run blocker. Can finish and bury people. Uses his frame effectively to keep defenders at bay on pass protection. Good straight-line quickness and can get to the second level. Understands everyone’s role on the offensive line and is used to making the blocking calls from playing center.
Negatives: Is not a nimble, fluid athlete and struggles at times against elite speed rushers with top quickness. Has trouble adjusting on the move in space and downfield.
Summary: Not sure he can stay at left tackle in the NFL, but he should be a quality starter somewhere along the offensive line.
